THE BEAUTY OF ACADEMIC PROWESS AND PROCEDURAL CORRECTNESS – Sen. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso on the upward swing

The 10th Senate has begun and like a 100m race that calls for sustained speed, the clock has started ticking. Lawmakers who really understand Lawmaking have started in earnest to thunder down the hallowed Chambers with proof of Legislative dexterity while those on showmanship are busy admiring the ambience of the Legislative Chambers and receiving accolades from fans and mammoth crowd of expectant population.
Intriguing in the whole scenario is the fact that four years looks long but it’s quite a short time and whatever is not done now may never be done. Anyone with the right energy level to start the race has a higher propensity of finishing strong while those on excursion to the national Assembly may remain deluded until the end.
Sen. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso has proved that he is not a stranger to the Chambers he has spent over 20 years in, both as a media Titan and senior correspondent, appointee of the Senate President and speaker, as Chief Press secretary, and as elected Federal House member and reelected or rather ranking senator. He no doubt knows the nooks and crannies of the Legislature of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This is made more altruistic given his commencement energy level. He has shone like a shooting star that he means business. He has shown that he is truly in a hurry to make an indelible mark in the sands of time. He has shown that he is not only accountable to his constituents, but to humanity, history and God. As such, he has taken off like Concord plane with high momentum and going on Lasser speed.
Of note is that Sen. Osita Izunaso sponsored a motion to declare landslide ecological challenge in Ideato region a national disaster and to attract the attention of the national Emergency Management Agency and other agencies of the Federal Government to Ideato for prompt action. This is commendable as it draws the attention of the government to push resources towards combating the rampaging gully and to save our people from economic depravity.
As if that was not significant enough, Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso galvanized the entire South East senators and spread his collaborative capacity across other zones for a support to a motion to tackle the insecurity in the south East, laying the real background to the milieu and suing for political solution to end it, among other prayers.
Interestingly, this is the first time to present the true perspective of the situation in the south East strongly at the Legislature of the nation, the right approach being an inclusive front for all. The groundwork done to secure the support of all the 15 South East senators and others wasn’t a child’s play but a proof of dexterity in Legislative role. This is highly commendable.
Take note that seeking a political solution means granting the right process and platform to weigh all appeals and requests and positions of stakeholders in the matter including the agitating population and the nation’s leadership according to international standards and protocol. This is considered a charismatic approach to distilling this horrendous anomaly bedeviling Igbo nation.
Sen. Osita Izunaso leading the debate and supported by others such as Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe and others presented a crack argument that could not be faulted by anyone. This has laid strong basis for the international community to pick the right narrative, not from the previous demarketing media stunts peddled by perverts but by clear untainted analogy of the true situation and realities on ground.
What Sen. Osita Izunaso has proved is that intelligence must reflect in how local issues are addressed realising that the call for collectivist approach is a necessity, not a confrontational approach. And until the right steps are taken, nothing works.
For the first time, the national salvo has been released to create the right ambience to deliberate on the south East impending matters and tackle the misguided actions of zealots and miscreants.
I must state that legislators like Sen. Osita Izunaso, who have the methodical approach, intellectual prowess, clout and pan-national outlook that understands intercultural and inter-ethnic communication and negotiation is a proof of capacity and requisite preparedness to provide effective representation and to deliver on pressing Constituency cum national issues of importance.
For the first time, there is a blend of posture of Igbo leaders, both the governors, national Assembly members, political irokos and men of means, to address the albatross of our socioeconomic and sociopolitical development. Sen. Izunaso has proved to be a rallying point, a centrifugal focus and a stabilizer to Foster bonding and common front for Eastern senators, a prerequisite to grant support to the Senate President and to the Government of Nigeria.
When the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice…we are rejoicing because the man who knows the business is now back to handle it…our collective mandate was not wasted but placed rightly in the hands of a man of competence, capacity, tactics and procedural dexterity garnished with excellent academic leaning. Bravo Dist. Sen. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso for the steps taken so far, as we look forward to more significant presence in the hallowed Chambers of the Senate and for dividends of democracy to our people.
