DANISH COURT JAILS NIGERIAN PLAYER AMOO AKINKUNMI
A talented Nigerian former Golden Eaglets player who plies his trade with FC Copenhagen of Denmark had been convicted and jailed in Denmark by a Danish court for amorous behavior.
Amoo, once described as Nigerian Lionel Messi was found guilty of sexually assaulting three women. He was sentenced for one year imprisonment.
Recall that Amoo has once been invited to super Eagles where he displayed his mercurial talents as a winger alongside Moses Simon the OGC Nice playmaker.
Amoo was first arrested on 22nd September, 2022 and charged by Danish authorities. He was released on October 7 but according to Ekstra Bladet Newspaper, was convicted on June 23, 2023, and sentenced to one year imprisonment.
The player who plays for a top side Danish club was charged with rape, and sexually assaulting two women and was convicted as he was found guilty. He had an opportunity to appeal the judgement.
Without going into the details of the case, it is a wake-up call to promising talents in sports to be wary of seeming allure in various countries as discipline is the foundation of greatness. Talented sportsmen and women must be careful about their conduct in order not to be entrapped with legal barriers to their future.
