HOODLUMS VANDALIZE A PORTION OF 2ND NIGER BRIDGE
The Second Niger Bridge, which was inaugurated about two months ago, has been vandalised from the Onitsha axis with the metal plate covering the expansion joint of the bridge carted away .
Mr Martins Oluwaseyi, who spoke on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Works, decried the act and marvelled at how people would meddle with public infrastructure such as this bridge.
The official, however, reassured motorists that the bridge is still safe as he stressed, the structural fitmness was not affected by the vandalisation. This is because it is a metal plate covering the expansion joint only, the gap is not a threat.
He was quick to reveal that mechanisms are in place to avoid a repeat as investigations have started to fish out the culprits.
