PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU EMERGES CHAIRMAN OF ECOWAS
An election of ECOWAS leaders that held on Sunday, today has produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the chairman of Economic Community of West African States.
Mr Tinubu succeeds the president of Guinea Bisau as the Chairman. President Ahmed Tinubu becomes one of the fastest leaders elected and inaugurated as president to emerge the subregional leader.
Former President Muhammad Buhari was elected chairman of ECOWAS in 2018 and his successor has become the elected chairman in less than two months in office.
It is a pointer that once a president has been inaugurated, regardless of legal fireworks trailing his election, his reign begins in international circle.
Delivering his acceptance speech, President Tinubu assured the regional body of his resolve to work to promote Democracy, which he acknowledged is tough, but the best for development of the region and the people.
President Tinubu left Nigeria on Saturday for Guinea Bisau for the ECOWAS meeting that produced him as the next leader of the regional body.
Nigeria had continued to produce the leader of ECOWAS, a region where Nigeria is a big force both in terms of economy and security.
