UZODIMMA, AS CHAIRMAN OF SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS, TAKES A STEP TO ADDRESS THE COMPLAINTS OF IGBO BUSINESS CONCERNS IN LAGOS
The governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Sen Hope Uzodimma has shown charisma as a leader, showing empathy for the Igbo business concerns in Lagos who are presently passing through difficult times, as their shopping complexes are being demolished.
While in Lagos to receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to attend meeting of Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Sen. Hope Uzodimma galvanized other South East governor’s and leaders present such as His Excellency Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, of Enugu State, the Deputy Speaker Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, to hold a critical meeting with the governor of Lagos State, Gov. Sanwo Olu.
This meeting is coming on the heels of complaint received from Igbo business community in Lagos citing demolition of their business premises and inflicting of hardship on the people.

The Lagos State government has been on the demolition exercise of shops and shopping complexes in Alaba International market, a place predominantly occupied by Igbo businesses.
Government is supposed to provide relevant infrastructure and where facilities are alleged to be substandard, provide reinforcement or alternative places for the displaced businesses but in this case it is not the case.
The intervention of Gov. Hope Uzodimma and the Eastern governor’s and leaders is apt and will speed up resolution of the disaffection occasioned by the demolition.
This is the type of initiatives expected of Igbo leaders in the face of ethnic maltreatment. Weldon His Excellency Sen Hope Uzodimma for this initiative, it is a right step in the right direction.
