Government of Imo State calls for synergy with private persons and public entities

The government of Imo State has called on philanthropists and illustrious sons of the state to be stakeholders in education by ensuring that school facilities and structures in the communities are not left to be dilapidated.
The state government made this call through the Commissioner for Education, Prof. John Cliff Nwadike during the commissioning of projects executed in Trinty High school , Oguta by its Old Boys Association.
Prof. Nwadike, who commended the old boys for rehabilitation of the school structures and equipping it with modern facilities . In his words, “you are worth celebrating for giving back to your Alma mater what it gave you and for restoring the lost glory of this great institution”, as he urged them not to relent in their good works.
The Commissioner continued ” the governor wants every community to be partners in progress with government by protecting schools and other projects as yours and to make timely reports of any problem beyond your capacity to government. We should not allow our children who are our treasures to study in an unfriendly environment “.
He further pointed out that, the governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma is a lover of education hence his administration has embarked on the recruitment of 10,000 new teachers while salaries are paid as at when due.
Prof. John C. Nwadike , thanked Shell oil company and other companies in Oguta for their contributions as he begged them to assist the host community in perimeter fencing. He also called on the host community and their friends to ensure that dormitories are built in the school.
Earlier, Mr Goddy Achunine who is the president of Trinty High School, Oguta Old Boys 1979 set, said that the academic and infrastructural decay of Trinity High School became an eyesore, hence they embarked upon the renovation of their Alma Mater as they did not want to see the school that produced them, go into oblivion.
Achunine said “they have accomplished structural integrity test and reinforcement in the Science and Administrative Blocks, woodwork and roofing in the Science and Administrative Blocks, Renovation of the 8 – bedroom Youth Corpers’ lodge, the Chapel, all classrooms, former Principal’s office, toilets, corridors, laboratories, library and school hall”.
He maintained that they have “installed solar panels, water borehole, bought Generator as well as fund a 24 – hour Security Surveillance Team for the school since December 2016 till date”.
He used the occasion to implore government and people of the area to assist in tackling the remaining projects in the school such as the perimeter fencing of the school, re-establishment of dormitories, Principal’s house and Teachers Quarters, establishing Computer Training Centre, Vocational Training Centre, Commercial and Secretarial Nominees Centres and Public Lending /Reference Ultra-Modern Library. Also the renovation of Shell & SUBEB Buildings, among others.
Mr. Samuel Nwanedo who is the Principal of Trinity High School, Oguta, recounted how the school was at the brink of extinction with less than 50 students when he was posted to the school.
He thanked God and some people who contacted the Old Boys, whose doggedness has brought life back to the school through increase in student population and studiousness.
He hoped that with more teachers posted to the school and other needs put in place, the school will return to it’s pride of place.
Highlights of the event included commissioning of the projects, rendition of songs by students and launching of Trinity Reminiscences Book, a historical depository of Trinity High School and a chronology of the great exploits of the Old Boys:-
