The attention of the national leadership of Okigwe Zone Youth Movement, (OZYM), has been drawn to a trending, vicious blackmail against the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe, by one Anthony Anyanwu, who erroneously alleged that Speaker Olemgbe was having secret meetings with members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was contained in a release signed by Comrade James Ukanwa the Acting Publicity Secretary of Okigwe Zone Youth Movement ( OZYM).
Comrade James stated “Ordinarily, responding to this tiny falsehood will amount to giving some credence to the report, which it does not deserve. But for the sake of the general public who might be misled by this tissue of prevarication against Speaker Olemgbe, it is important that we dispell it, for the sake of posterity.”
He maintained that the report in its entirety is false, baseless and unfounded because the reporter could not substantiate his claims against Speaker Olemgbe, who is a committed member and one of the leaders of the All Progressive Congress, as well as a dependable political son of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
“We wish to state that Speaker Olemgbe has shown commitment and dedication in spearheading the leadership of the State Assembly, by making useful laws for the good people of Imo State,” he reiterated.
OYZM further clarifies that at no time did Speaker Olemgbe had any private meetings with PDP stakeholders, either in Abuja or in Lagos, and does not have any intention of doing so, in the future.
The release emphasized that Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe enjoys a good working relationship with the executive arm of government, ably led by our amiable Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, who is very happy with his performance in the Legislature.
Moreso, on the issue of 2027 general elections, it is important for the likes of Anthony Anyanwu and his sponsors to understand that Chike Olemgbe is more concerned about making laws that will advance the governance of Imo State, rather than worry himself over 2027 general elections , the release emphasized.
We, therefore urge the general public to discountenance the report as it is neither real, nor genuine.
