SEN. IZUNASO WINS CHAMPION NEWSPAPERS SENATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Igbo saying that a bright day begins with a light morning sun is an altruism of the fact that a child who will be able to feed well begins with the art of washing hands.
Dist. Sen. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso beat all the other 108 senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to win the prestigious Champion Newspapers award for the best senator of the year. This is coming after Izunaso was earlier rated by a magazine as one of the performing 10 senators after the first 100 days in the red Chambers.
The champion Newspaper is a print media that has pedigree of quality journalism without entertaining any form of jaundiced reportage. They have maintained decades of integrity and clear sense of judgement.
Perusing through the performance records of the upper chamber of the Nigerian legislature, they observed an outstanding pedigree and Sterling performance of the Ohakpu born legal luminary who is shining like a million stars in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Significantly, Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso, who holds first degree in English Linguistics, B. A. Unijos, LL. B. in law, Baze University, Abuja, PGD Journalism, IIJ, Abuja, MBA Administration, Unical, B. L, Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and LL.M Nile University Abuja, is also pursuing his doctorate degree in University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, in Maritime Law.
The ebullient legislator who bagged first class in law, Base University Abuja, and graduated as the best graduand of the faculty of law, is simply a marvel in the red Chambers.
Leading the Senate Committee on Capital Market and financial institutions, the senator of capacity continues to show vibrancy in legislative debates and oversight functions and appropriation. He also is a member of Senate public accounts committee where he has shown dexterity in puting forward the right Inquisition and performance tentacles to critically examine important national issues such as investigating the forex regime of the central Bank of Nigeria.
Notably, the dogged effort of the senator led to enlisting of Imo State as the state with the highest deposit of natural gas in Nigeria, and the 9th in the world, and through his effort, gas Development infrastructures have been commissioned in the state, thereby attracting huge foreign inflow to develop the ecosystem in gas and related trade.
Sen. Osita Izunaso is the grandpatron of the People Living with Disabilities, PLWD, in Nigeria and through him, their Act signed into law in 2018, and setting up of National commission became a reality. He is presently pursuing full implementation of the Act and the review of the act to make it more contextual.
Champion Newspapers has seen the capacity of the people’s senator and has singled him out for national award, indeed it is well-deserved.
