IMHA: motion to urge Imo state govt to enhance, reposition traffic management and regulation in the state

Regards to the current inactivity of the Imo State Traffic Management Agency, ISTMA, which is billed to manage traffic effectively in the State, the Imo State House Of Assembly has moved a Motion urging the Imo State Government to enhance and reposition ISTMA management and regulation of traffic in the state.
The sponsor of the motion, Hon Sam Osuji ( Okwubanego) member Representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency in Imo House of Assembly, urged the State Government to improve traffic management, stating that the menace of traffic offenders has become so alarming that people visiting Imo State for the first time have a bad impression on traffic situation in the state , wondering why lawlessness in driving has become an issue.
He maintained that the governor of Imo State , His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has constructed quality roads among the three (3) zones of the state for ease Transportation, while the growing number of vehicles in the state has thrown a big challenge to ISTMA . He further stated that ISTMA has the capacity to create substantial employment opportunities within the state, through the recruitment of Traffic Officers, Administrative personnel and support staff which could make impart by reducing unemployment in the state.
Continuing, Hon. Osuji , said that if ISTMA is repositioned, it would enforce Imo state government’s directive on truck movement at designated periods and none violation of traffic rules and regulations.
In the course of its deliberations, the house considered that ISTMA should carry out immediate BATCH by BATCH Workshops Training for commercial drivers to enhance their knowledge of traffic laws , safety registration on how to follow road signs correctly, defensive driving technology and poor picking and dropping of passengers.
The house resolved that the Imo state government under the leadership of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma should reconstitute the board of Imo state traffic management agency to reposition in order to deliver optimally in all ramifications.
