SEN. IZUNASO COMMENCES THE PROCESS TO BUILD SKILLS ACQUISITION AND EMPOWERMENT CENTRES ACROSS ORLU ZONE, INSPECTS PROTOTYPE AT UMUNWAKU
Vision is important as the quality of a good leader. In possessing visionary qualities, a leader looks beyond the immediate to provide sustainable solution to challenges facing the people, in order to impact on the betterment of the society and the people.
Sen. Osita Izunaso has studied the terrain of the Nigerian Economy and realised that public governance needs to activate a pivot to substantially tackle the endemic unproductivity and change the narrative of Imo State being the headquarters of unemployment in the country. This bold step entails establishing standard skills acquisition centre across the 12 LGAs of Imo West Senatorial District.
Conducting inspection on a standard skills acquisition and Empowerment centre built with the support of American government in Ohaji Egbema LGA, the distinguished Senator saw clearly a design to capture the essence of Empowerment of the people.
The Umunwaku skills acquisition and Empowerment centre, built by Dr Greg Obi,, was built with amazing concept and highly equipped, to ensure that beneficiaries of the skills acquisition have everything they need to get the best learning.
In the facility, there is ICT, Bakery, Tailoring, Beauty Technician and salon, Technical section with welding and wood works, and so on. The facility has installed 40 kva solar installation for effective power supply all through their operation. Some confectionaries produced there were provided as samples.
Sen. Izunaso proceeded to inspect the land space where the Kpakpando powered project will be located in Ohaji Egbema LGA.
The distinguished Senator is also taking his time across other LGAs such as Nwangele and so on to inspect prospective locations where the multibillion naira project will be sited in each of the 12 LGAs of the Imo West Senatorial District.
This vision is laudable because it is seeking to return the people to access to skills acquisition and Empowerment opportunities to enable them engage in productive ventures. Everyone who knows the person of Sen. Izunaso will appreciate that despite that he is a homegrown politician, he doesn’t believe in giving deceitful handouts but thinks strategically on how to address system deficiencies. He is focusing on Empowerment of youths and people of Imo West Senatorial District.
Recall that during his first shot at the Senate, he sponsored the study that eventually included Imo State in the gas master plan of Nigeria and established Imo State as the state with the highest gas deposit in the country, and 9th in the world.
Today Imo State, with 200 trillion cubic feet gas deposit is the bride of investors and a new leader in the prospective economy of migration to use of gas and renewable energy in the country.
Senator Izunaso is out again to transform Imo State into the headquarters of skills acquisition in the country, bringing in sophisticated centres, equipment and professional instructors to address the skills and Empowerment gap in the state and the country. This is a strategic plan to ensure that youths are gainfully equipped, empowered and are productive, a good Initiative of an erudite senator with human face. He has as added to the skills opportunities in mechanised agriculture and Productivity.
In a brief moment, the projects will begin to spring up in different locations for the good of the people.
