
IZUNASO HOSTS MUSLIM COMMUNITY OF ORLU ZONE, BREAKS FAST WITH THEM AS HE CHARGES THEM TO CONTINUE TO UPHOLD PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

Sen. Osita Izunaso has continued to demonstrate his inclination to religious tolerance and the respect for every human person regardless of creed, tongue or preferences. He demonstrated this by hosting the Muslim community of Imo West Senatorial District at his residence.

The Muslim faithful who were a mix of the various tribes including Igbos, Yorubas and Hausas came in in delegation capacity as leaders of the Muslim community across the twelve local government Areas of Orlu Senatorial zone.

Led by His Royal Majesty, Eze Abdulfatai Emetumah, the traditional ruler of Umuofo Community in Oguta LGA, the Muslim faithful prayed and broke their fast in the distinguished senator’s residence.

Addressing the gathering, HRM Emetumah stated that this is the first of its kind, the show of love to the Muslim community, inviting them to breakfast with them. He added that it is the first time, that Christians and Muslims held their fasting the same time, signalling that both are the same.

He commended Senator Osita Izunaso for being an outstanding person who has continued to blaze the trail in all areas of performance as a senator and as a Distinguished personality.

Rev. Fr. Precious Eze, the home parish priest to Sen. Osita Izunaso was present and commended the Muslim community for coming to share with the senator and the people.

Speaking at the session, Sheikh Salih Animashaun, the South East coordinator of Interfaith Mediation Centre, emphasized that Christianity and Islam have the same origin and are both religions of peace and urged all to continue to promote cooperation among groups and people to achieve a peaceful society.

Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso, while responding to the Muslim community, urged them to try to sustain the holiness attained during the fasting period and not to go back to former ways that do not glorify God, the conduct before Ramadan. He assured them that he cares for them and that coming closer to share with them has made him to realise how populous they are spread across various local government areas of Orlu zone. Realising that they have Community of faithful across Mgbidi, Ideato, Nwangele and other places across Orlu zone.


Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso wished them success as they look forward to ending the fast soon saying that eight days difference from Christian’s end of lent is significant, as the two religions promote the dignity of humanity in the one God who owns the universe.

Izunaso has continued to demonstrate excellent leadership maestro showing that as a leader, our spoken words and our conducts must be edifying and building the society of our dreams. He is promoting religious tolerance and respect for interfaith coexistence, a true leader per excellence.
