The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), led by the National Chairperson Comrade Aisha K. Bura paid a courtesy visit to the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria ( SMEDAN). The visit which was aimed to avail the association avenues to explore in enhancing collaboration with SMEDAN especially in empowering women entrepreneurs across the nation.
Mrs. Fawale Olabimpe, Head of the Women and Youth Unit at SMEDAN, expressed readiness to collaborate with NAWOJ in implementing training programs tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs. She emphasized the need for a technical committee to devise strategies and modalities for effective implementation. She emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships to enhance the capacity of women in enterprenurship and mitigate challenges faced by micro , small and medium enterprises ( MSMES)
Dr. Moses Damlekun, Director of Planning at SMEDAN, assured NAWOJ of the agency’s support in promoting entrepreneurship among women. He encouraged NAWOJ to leverage SMEDAN’s facilities and resources for the benefit of women entrepreneurs, he also highlighted their commitment in supporting women and youths through various programs and initiatives.
Chibuzo Osuoha, Deputy Director of Planning and Research at SMEDAN, reiterated the agency’s role in facilitating access to funding opportunities for entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of disseminating information about SMEDAN’s initiatives to reach a wider audience.
Earlier, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ commend SMEDAN for its dedication to empowering women in entrepreneurship and pledged to collaborate closely in advancing this noble cause. She maintained, as the fourth estate of the realm, NAWOJ is committed to disseminating accurate information about SMEDAN’s programs and initiatives to empower women across Nigeria.
The Nationl Chairperson insisted that the essence of the visit is for NAWOJ to be an integral part of every program they embark on , as the association looks forward to a fruitful partnership with SMEDAN in empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth and development in Nigeria.
