Motion : Hon. Agbasonu urges Imo Tertiary institutions to dispatch transcripts, certificates promptly to graduands

The Honourable member Representing Ezinihitte Mbaise state Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon . Henry Agbasonu moved a motion urging the tertiary institutions in Imo State to ensure that graduating students are not subjected to undue delay and unnecessary bureaucracy in processing and collection of transcripts, certificates and statements of result. He also urged the amiable Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to direct Examination Development Center (EDC) and the Ministry of Education to release BECE and FSLC results from 2020 to date.
Hon. Agbasonu, stated that Imo State can boast of 10 Tertiary institutions including IMSU, FUTO, Imopoly, University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo, Ben. Uwajumogu, College of education, FECOLART, College of Nursing Science Orlu, K.O Mbadiwe University Ideato North etc, which he said are Institutions that produce graduates on a yearly basis.
The Lawmaker noted that graduates of these institutions oftentimes have the need , either for employment purposes, National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) or other academic demands requiring their statements of result, certificates and transcripts from their institutions they attended. He stated that most times such demands often face unwarranted delays and unnecessary bureaucracy thereby affecting the beneficiaries negatively as well as jeopardizing chances of meeting their target or deadline fixed by the prospective institutions and organisations requiring the said transcripts or certificates.
The Honourable member noted that such delays have continued to prevent many of our youth from studying in such institutions either for undergraduate or postgraduate degrees and it has continued to fester the corrupt tendency where people intentionally make things difficult for others in order to rip them off scarce resources.
The Honourable house resolved that the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma should direct the Ministry of Education and EDC to release the BECE and FSLC results of 2020 to 2023 respectively, adding that the ministry of education should come up with an administrative policy to ensure prompt release of results and to eradicate undue delay in the processing and also release of statements of result, certificates and transcripts and indeed all relevant results in all public institutions in Imo State to ensure that our students and graduates are not subjected to unnecessary delay with its attendant consequences.
