The leadership of the Hausa community in Imo state has promised to work in synergy with the police to ensure the security and peaceful coexistence of the Northern settlement in Imo state.
This was conveyed during a security meeting held by the Imo commissioner of police CP Aboki Danjuma with the leaders of the Northern settlement held at the Ama Hausa palace of the Hausa Traditional ruler on Thursday.
The meeting was held
to discuss on security challenges and mapping out strategies that will improve on the overall interest of residents in the state.
The leader of the Hausa community in the state HRH Alhaji Hawal Suleiman thanked the commissioner of police for his pragmatic approach in ensuring maximum security of lives and properties of the people of the state. He assured the CP that he will work in synergy with the police to fish out criminal elements who have filtered into the state to perpetuate crimes, noting that he is highly committed to promote peaceful coexistence for the economic growth of the state.
While responding, CP Danjuma said, as part of the traditional rulers role in community policing , there is need for the leaders to step up their game and caution their subjects against all forms of criminal activities.
He urged the Sariki to continue to partner with the police and other security agencies in the fight against violent crimes in the state.
The CP further assured of continuous community engagement in the state and promised to collaborate with stakeholders in the state to embrace efforts that will boost community participation in the fight against crime and all forms of criminality in the state.
According to the state police public relations officer ASP Henry Okoye the meeting also provided a platform to broker peace between the Chairman of Bureau De change in Ama Hausa and the Hausa Traditional ruler, Alhaji Lawal Suleiman.
In attendance at the meeting were the Sariki Hausa Imo State, HRH Alhaji Lawal Saidi Sulieman, and members of his cabinet, Chief Imam of the State, Barrister Tony Benson, Chief Imam 34 Artillery Brigade, Major Ridwan Imam, former special adviser to the Governor on Northern Affairs, Sulieman Ibrahim, Chairman, Bureau De Change, Ama Hausa, Alhaji Hamza Abdullahi, representatives of the State Government and management team of the Command.
