the Imo State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe has amended the law establishing the Imo State College of Education Ihitte Uboma.

The assessment Bill which was chiefly sponsored by the member for Ehime Mbano Hon Bernard Ozoemena for the renaming of the institution and initialisation of a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly Senator Benjamin Uwajimogu .
The Bill which was first pass called Law No 11 of 2010 was reintroduced on the 16th of November, 2023, for amendment. The Speaker Rt Home Chike Olemgbe who set up a three man adhoc committee comprising of
1 Hon Bernard Ozoemena
2 Hon Okechukwu Udeze and
3 Hon Francis Uzoma
the three man ad-hoc committee which was charged with the responsibility of looking into the merits of the amendment was ask to report back to the House on the 30th of November, 2023.
Considering the report of the adhoc Committee in a Committee of the Whole House,the ad-hoc committee made significant amendments of the long title from The Imo State College of Education Ihitte Uboma to Benjamin Uwajimogu College of Education Ihitte Uboma.

In their comments members thanked the Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma for the kindness shown to one of their own and his colleague in the Senate,Senator Benjamin Uwajimogu whom they eulogised as a patriot, humane, statesman, selflessness, philanthropist, developmentalist, and astute palementarian.
The House adjourned to 12th December 2023.
