IZUNASO BIDS FAREWELL TO STEPMOTHER – LOLO CATHERINE NONYE IZUNASO
Ohakpu ancient community in Oru West, on Friday 1st December, played host to dignitaries, government functionaries and paraphernalia of Government of imo State at the burial of the last matriarch of Late Chief Joseph Izunaso family. Lolo Catherine was the mother of Mr Chimezie Izunaso, SA State Domestic to Sen. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso, Kpakpando Orlu.
Late Mama Nonye Izunaso was described by the family and sympathizers as a successful business woman, calm and easy going, respectful and a devout Catholic.
Requiem mass in honour of the departed was celebrated at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ohakpu, by Rev. Fr. Precious Eze, the Parish Priest, and interment held at Chief Joseph Izunaso family compound.
Scores of dignitaries attended the burial to commiserate with Sen. Izunaso and the entire family of Chief Joseph Izunaso. While observing the protocol of recognition of dignitaries in attendance, the first son of the late Matriarch, Chief Anthony Izunaso, thanked all for coming to share with them in their trying times.
Some of the dignitaries present include: Hon. Prince Ford Ozumba, DG Kpakpando Organization and Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Hon. Obidiegwu Stanley, Commissioner for Special Projects, Hon. Dr. Elias .M. Emedom, Commissioner for Sanitation and Hygiene, Hon. Chief Nwabueze Cosmas Maduba, Odoebube Isu, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Mrs Love Udensi, Woman Leader, Kpakpando Organization, Hon. Mrs Uju Nwaugo, DG Kpakpando Angels, Barr. Robert Okwuego, Dr Ejike Chukwu, MON.
Others include Amb. Anthony Akalugo, Leadership Sustainability Coach, Barr. Eze Okafor, Lady Ijeoma Obialo, Dame Nnepuruiche Ada Okorie, Barr. Jude Oduoma, Akaraugo Chambers and DDG Kpakpando Organization, Mr Hillary (KDKD), Dr Austin Agbahiwe, Chief Eric Igbojekwe, Ochinigwe, Hon. Ukaonu, Nwakaibeya Isu, Mrs Ijeoma Alinna, and lots more.
Clad in their angelic uniforms were Kpakpando women and APC women Oru West LGA.
Sen. Izunaso demonstrated that he is a great and humble man, insisted that all the dignitaries will be served in the family compound with his presence to ensure that the condolences are duly carried out in the family without creating room for people to prefer a reception away from the family. He ensured that everything was provided to bid the amiable matriarch farewell, condoling with the entire members of Izunaso family.
A humble and articulate man demonstrates clarity of purpose and respect for family headship without assuming a supremacy based on privileged life. Sen. Osita Izunaso demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and gave the departed matriarch, a befitting farewell with throngs of friends and associates, from imo State, across Nigeria and beyond, present.
Farewell Mama Lolo Catherine Nonye Izunaso, you lived a life of peace and love. We continue to pray for consolation for the family and for your soul to rest in Christ Jesus, the supreme judge.
