ETIOKWE NJABA DECLARES NDLEA SEMINAR TO COMBAT DRUG ABUSE IN NJABA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OPEN, CHARGES YOUTHS TO AVOID ILLICIT DRUG CONSUMPTION AND ABUSE
Njaba Local Government Area has continued to play host to agencies of the government and development oriented institutions, an indication of socioeconomic stability and curtail of insecurity.
National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, is one of the agencies that has deemed it necessary to conduct seminar in Nnenasaa. Significantly, the move made Njaba LGA the second local government after Orlu, in Orlu zone, to play host to the leadership of NDLEA in the state, for the all important seminar.
The criteria for selection of Njaba has nothing to do with degree of prevalence of consumption, but an indicator of a central place to pass the message for the state and the neighborhood.
Ms Ugbede Chiamaka Adaugo led the team to conduct the seminar, while the state commandant was present.
The topic of the seminar was “Drug Abuse, Issues and Concepts and the Role of Parents in the fight against Drug Abuse”.
Declaring the seminar open, the sole Administrator of Njaba Local Government Area, Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi, Etiokwe Njaba, thanked NDLEA for choosing Njaba LGA among the first places to conduct the seminar. He remarked that the message of bringing crusade against Drug abuse is one that compliments the message being conveyed to youths but added that their coming will enhance the utilization of the various Stakeholders to convey the message to the grassroots.
Etiokwe Njaba added that drug abuse destroys the life and future of the people who indulge it and urged the youths to avoid it at all cost.
Presidents General, woman leaders, youth leaders and other strategic Stakeholders were present representing the autonomous communities, and they were urged to carry the message down to their communities.
Drug abuse, use of stimulants, consumption of narcotics and willful abuse of regulated drugs all amount to drug abuse. The proliferation of consumption of Indian hemp, cocaine, metamphetamin (mkpuru mmiri) and so on are injurious to health, the message of the seminar infers.
Etiokwe Njaba is committed to total reorientation for positive strides and development of Njaba Local Government through socioeconomic and sociopolitical transformation.
