KPAKPANDO FOUNDATION MARKS 18TH ANNIVERSARY, CELEBRATES WITH THE PEOPLE LIVING WITH DISABILITIES (PLWD)

A reputable not-for-profit and non-governmental Organization, Kpakpando Foundation has released its schedule for Celebration of its 18th anniversary. The Celebration will be holding on Sunday, 29th October, 2023.

The theme of this year’s anniversary is ” Unlocking Potentials: Hope for PWDs in Imo State

The founder and President of Kpakpando Foundation, Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso, remarked that Kpakpando Foundation, since its Inauguration, has not skipped any year, in its 18 years of existence, without celebrating the anniversary.

He stated that his commitment to the welfare of PWD is a covenant with his God and thanked God for sustaining the foundation all the while.

Izunaso has shown dedication to promoting the welfare and empowerment of PWD and the track record of performance earned him United Nations recognition and award of honour.

Kpakpando Foundation has been sponsoring PWD to national conferences, national events and ensuring that they are not left behind among their peers.

Notably, Izunaso, following his quantum of support to the PWD has Grandpatron of the national association of PWD of Nigeria, conferred on him.

He has taken up matters of PWD to repeal and reenact the PWD Act 2018, which has passed first reading in the Senate. In the new bill for an Act, a lot of amendments, which includes provision of 1% contribution of profit of companies quoted on stock exchange, the capital market for the welfare of PWD. He insists that the 5% compulsory quota of employment in the public and private sector for the PWD should be respected to give them sense of belonging.

The 18th anniversary celebration will be chaired by Prof. U. U. Chukwumaeze, Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri.

The event holds at Concorde Hotel, Owerri at 11 am, on Sunday 29th October, 2023.

And the Organising Committee of the anniversary is chaired by Chief Cosmas Maduba, Odoebube Isu, commissioner for Agriculture, Imo State.

Sen. Osita Izunaso urges both the government and the private individuals to prioritize the welfare of PWD adding that until one dies, there is the possibility of deformity. And that providing for their welfare satisfies the principle of social inclusion and integration of vulnerability class in the societal agenda.
