CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF BANKERS OF NIGERIA (CIBN) PAY COURTESY CALL ON SEN. OSITA IZUNASO, DESCRIBE HIM AS A CRITICAL STAKEHOLDER IN THE FINANCIAL SECTOR, SEEKS FOR SUPPORT
The amazing performance and pedigree of Legislative excellence of Dist. Sen. Barr. Osita Izunaso has continued to attract accolades from institutions across the country and beyond.
Sen. Osita Izunaso, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Capital Market received a delegation of the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, CIBN, led by Mr Ken Opara.
On the visit, the president of CIBN, Mr Opara, stated that the attendance of Sen. Izunaso to their recently concluded annual conference and his serious critical input in the course of discourse necessitated their paying him a courtesy visit to further strengthen their relationship with him for more beneficial ties. He recognised Sen. Izunaso as the chairman Senate Committee on Capital market and as well a critical Stakeholder in the financial sector adding that with him, they will be able to achieve critical legislative intervention required to move the institute forward.

Mr Opara emphasized that as a matter of fact, they need amendment of CIBN Act and would want accelerated assistance from the Senate. He added that enthroning ethics, best practices and robust fairness in the banking and financial sector is their goal.
Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso in his robust show of Legislative brilliance acknowledged that strengthening the banking sector will improve the confidence of investors. According to the erudite senator, the hiccups encountered by investors in the capital market when they want to collect their proceeds and pull out their funds is not healthy to the investment climate. He explained that the goal of business is to invest and recoup investment and not to have the fund invested and the proceed locked up, which as a result, discourages foreign influx of investors. He opined that something should be done quickly and queried why Central Bank of Nigeria engaged in that practice in the first instance.
Sen. Izunaso urged the members of CIBN to proceed with the relevant consultation to draft and present the amended bill for relevant legislative works assuring that everything will be done from his end to facilitate it’s legislative engagement.

The President and leadership of CIBN presented to Sen. Osita Izunaso a letter of commendation for excellence thus far and a plaque to symbolize their love and Goodwill for him, to institute the memory and significance of their visit.
Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso is the chairman Senate Committee on Capital Market, a respected ranking member of the Senate, a leading legislator among the few senators making significant impact in the 10th Senate and a man of unwavering commitment to integrity and best practices.
