The opportunity created by the Imo State government by offering digital skills and distribution of 20,000 laptops to cohort 1 & 2 beneficiaries is phenomenal.
The program is one that provides an immediate and future empowerment of youths because it aligns them to the realities of the new age.
Not only the specific skills taught the youths, but the reorientation that enables them acquire the right thinking for future and immediate relevance in the 21st century economy of the global system is awesome.
Government is now known to be employer of labour but significant in providing enabling atmosphere for businesses to thrive.
Further offer to support the facilitation of offshore trip for imo youth is a welcome development. It reduces class differential in imo State since most beneficiaries will be people who never had any means to pursue their passion abroad.
Being skilled emigrants in any country of their choice will reduce their struggle to penetrate and become relevant in their place of abode and destination. Adding to such is the prospect of increased diaspora remittances that will follow successful integration of skilled migrants.
Nigeria should copy the blueprint of digital skillup from imo State so that the abundant population could translate to tech world exploration and development of African silicon valley.
