IMO GOVERNMENT MARKS NIGERIA’S INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION WITH THANKSGIVING AT ASSUMPTA CATHEDRAL, WITH SEN. OSITA IZUNASO & SEN. PATRICK NDUBUEZE IN ATTENDANCE
Maria Assumpta Catholic cathedral Owerri, played host to the Government of Imo State, led by His Excellency Sen Hope Uzodimma on Sunday during the celebration of a Thanksgiving mass to mark the 63rd independence anniversary of Nigeria.
As a mark of solidarity with the governor and in recognition of patriotic disposition, Dist. Sen. Osita Izunaso alongside his counterpart Sen. Patrick Ndubueze, APC senators from Imo State, were in attendance.
Addressing the imo citizens who thronged out to join the Thanksgiving mass, Gov. Hope Uzodimma thanked Imo citizens for their support to the vision of 3-R government of shared prosperity and urged them to continue to be committed to the resolve to lift imo State higher than it has ever been. He assured of his commitment to the war against criminality and commitment to Development of Imo State.
According to Onwa Oyoko, we are optimistic that ” the Egyptians we see today, we shall see no more “, he stated while addressing the distractions caused by agents of setback to the state.
Prominent friends and associates such as the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, Sen. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso (Imo West, APC), Sen. Patrick Ndubueze (Imo North, APC), Deputy Speaker of Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, legislators of Imo State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, Hon. Eugene Dibieagwu, Commissioners and other appointees, the Chief Judge of Imo State Judiciary, and a host of friends attended the Thanksgiving mass.
Speaking to the press, Sen. Osita Izunaso said that the Thanksgiving mass is an opportunity to thank God for leading the country over the past 63 years such that despite the daunting challenges faced in her history, we have continued to remain together as a nation. He wished Nigerians and Imo West glorious days ahead and urged them to effect a rededication to the ideals that hold the promise to uplift the nation and the people of Nigeria. According to the learned senator, Nigeria will sure rise again through our collective efforts.
The celebration later continued at Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, a special event for the Celebration of NIGERIA’S Independence, which was secured in 1960.
