BOUNTIFUL HARVEST OF CUCUMBER IN NJABA LGA COURTESY OF MMILI OMA FOUNDATION – Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi, Solad Njaba is on course
There is nothing as sweet as recording bountiful harvest. It becomes more interesting when it only takes a period of just one month and few days after planting and the yield is immense.

Dr Udoka Ukewuihe, UD Jesus, the nuclear physicist and president of Mmili oma Foundation, through the platform of the foundation, brought experts in cucumber farming to train youths of Njaba on cucumber farming. Over 500 youths were trained at the first batch of training and youth empowerment.
Sole Administrator of Njaba Local Government Area, Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi, Etiokwe Njaba, welcomed the initiative and provided all assistance of the local government, including providing demonstration farm in the council headquarters.

Leaders across Njaba gathered to witness the training and performed planting at the demonstration farm.
It therefore brought untold joy and sense of fulfillment that barely six weeks after planting, the first harvest is bountiful.
The spiralling effect of the training and empowerment is that various cucumber farms have now sprung up in various locations across Njaba and it is expected that the harvest will set Njaba as the new source of cucumber supply in Orlu zone.

Youths are ecstatic about the new skill and it is expected that there will be wealth creation through cucumber farming for the youths. Mmili oma Foundation is preparing for the second phase of the cucumber training and empowerment scheme.

Etiokwe Njaba has assured that Njaba LGA will continue to support Mmili oma and the youth of Njaba in the good initiative of skillup and other programs that impact the youth and people of Njaba Local Government Area.

This is a practical concept of teaching the youth to fish, not to give them fish to eat.
