IMO SPEAKER MOURN ..as EJK Onyewuchi departs this stage of existence fell at 87.
The Speaker and member representing Ihitte-Uboma state constituency in the State House Assembly, Rt.Hon Chike Olemgbe and entire people of Okigwe senatorial district of the state have been thrown into rude shock and mourning with the demise of a seasoned politician of Okigwe zone extraction and member of Imo state elders council Chief EJK Onyewuchi last Monday after a brief illness at Federal University of Technology University Teaching Hospital (former FMC).
In release issued by the Speaker through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Uwa, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe described the death of Chief EJK Onyewuchi as “a rude shock to the people of Okigwe zone, the ruling All Progressives Congress and the political class in Imo state and beyond.”
Olemgbe maintained, that the death of the elderstatesman has created a gap in the political structure of Okigwe zone and has deprived the younger generation of politicians the privilege and opportunity of tapping from late EJK Onyewuchi’s wisdom of experience in political dynamics .
He described the late sage as a “man of immense humility, advocate of consistency in the game of politics and respect for other people’s views on issues of general interest.”
” EJK as he was popular called, was a great son of Okigwe zone, Imo state and Nigeria. Who never believed in running other people down or destroying fellow politicians as the only way to remain on top or acquire power. He was always himself and abhorred greed and bitterness. These attributes are worthy of emulation by people in all areas of life”, Chike Olemgbe emphasized.
The Speaker, concluded by praying that God do grant the deceased eternal rest place as he urged his immediate family, the people of Obowo local government area and all those he left behind to bear the loss with fortitude.
