NIGERIA FIRSTLADY EXPRESSES COMMITMENT TO EMPOWER WOMEN OF ALL AGES.

COMMENDS IMO FIRSTLADY FOR ALLEVIATING PLIGHTS OF WOMEN.

Nigerian First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has expressed commitment to empower, support women of all ages, and uplift their status for the betterment of families and every state in the federation, through Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Sen Oluremi Tinubu stated this during the grand finale of 2023, Imo women August Meeting held at Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, with the theme: “WOMEN SUPPORTING EACH OTHER MAKING THINGS HAPPEN”(UMUNWANYI NA-AKWADO IBE HA NA- EME KA IHE NA-EME).

She joined the voices of Imo state governor Sen Hope Uzodimma and wife Chioma against all forms of sexual and domestic violence, fight against trafficking in persons,drug abuse and other gender based vices in the society, maintaining that all have responsibilities to ensure the voices of women are heard, their needs are addressed and their legacies preserved. Nigerian First Lady called on women to come out en masse and vote Governor Uzodimma for a well deserved second tenure in order to complete the good works he has started in Imo.

Imo First Lady Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma stated that women are in better position to lead a way to better tomorrow, as pathfinders of peace and love adding that as they continue to stand by their husbands, they should realize that the Support they give to each is even more important. She said that as witnesses of insecurity, women have a role to play in finding lasting solutions to the problem by training their children well and reminding them that resorting to crime is not alternative to unemployment.

Giving the closing remarks, the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Group Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, thanked Imo women who trooped out en masse for the August meeting and prayed for their journey mercies to their various homes. The highlights of the event are the match past by different women groups, cultural dance, and the empowerment, which will continue throughout the week through the Ministry of Women Affairs.
