TRANSFORMATION WORK ONGOING AT IMO STATE SECRETARIAT COMPLEX, NEW OWERRI
The government of imo State under the leadership of Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, Onwa Oyoko, is doing very well in various sectors of the state’s economy.
This time around it’s not about the quality roads only, but the renovation and reinforcement of important structures.
The Secretariat Complex built during Chief Achike Udenwa regime was in a sorry state. The building looked unkempt and shambolic. It was dirty with overgrown weed turning into thick forest lying between one flank and the other. The walkway that was built with concrete cast was dilapidated and leaking looking like a death trap of sort. The environment was largely non-conductive for work and did not depict a true identity of the centre of civil service of the state.
The governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has not only turned around civil service and exalted their status in the state, he has provided shuttle buses for the civil servants, instituted 13th month salary reward, granted double promotion and approved conversion to deserving civil servants, approved minimum wage to be N40K, and consequential adjustments, enrolled civil servants in NHIS scheme, approved payment of gratuities not done over 15 years now, and lots more.
He believes in the dictum of cleanliness is next to godliness and therefore the meteoric transformation of the Secretariat Complex that has seen total renovation, transformation, reinforcement and upgrade is an excellent stride.
Renovation and repainting of the various blocks, fixing of handrails leading to the pathways, roofing of the walkways and cleaning of the environment to restore the beauty of the once abandoned environment, fixing of the failed portions of the road in the premises and lots more are significant.
His Excellency Sen Hope Uzodimma has left no one in doubt that he is consistent in his delivery of good works and does so albeit silently.
The governor deserves commendation for his level of commitment to transformation of Imo State. It is hoped that with this pace, Imo State will be transformed positively to rank among fast developing states in the country.
