NASS PRINCIPAL OFFICERS LIST NOT FROM APC NATIONAL SECRETARIAT SAYS ADAMU<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abdullahi Adamu who is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has maintained that the list of principal officers for the 10th National Assembly (NASS) announced on Tuesday by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; and House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas did not emanate from the party secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adamu made this known on Tuesday at a meeting with the Progressives Governors\u2019 Forum led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, \u201cI had a courtesy call on Saturday from the President of the Senate and his Deputy. The following day, which was Sunday, I received the visit by the Speaker and his Deputy Speaker coming to me for Sallah\u2019s homage. “<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut I am just hearing as a rumor now from the online media that there have been some announcements in the Senate and House of Representatives. The national headquarters of the party, the NWC (National Working Committee) has not given any such information or communicated about the choice of offices”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd until we formally resolve and communicate with them (NASS leadership) in writing which is the norm and practice (it is not our intention to break away from traditions), whatever announcement is done either by the President of the Senate, Deputy Senate President, Speaker or Deputy Speaker is not from this secretariat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The Chairman APC Governors Forum Uzodimma said the party will address the \u201ccommunication gap\u201d between the four most senior NASS leaders and the APC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He maintained that Akpabio and Abbas are members of the APC, the party will ensure that the matter is resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, the sanate president Godswill Akpabio had announced Senator Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti State as Senate Leader, Senator Dave Umahi from Ebonyi State as Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State as Chief Whip, and Senator Lola Ashiru from Kwara State as Deputy Chief Whip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also announced the names of minority principal officers as follows<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are Senator Simon Davou (Plateau North \u2013 PDP, Minority Leader), Oyewunmi Olarere (Osun West \u2013 PDP, Deputy Minority Leader), Darlington Nwokeocha (Abia Central \u2013 LP, Minority Whip), Rufai Hanga (Kano Central \u2013 NNPP, Deputy Minority Whip).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a similar development, the speaker House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas announced Julius Ihonvbere (APC \u2013 Edo) as House Majority Leader, Halims Abdullahi (APC \u2013 Kogi) as Deputy Majority Leader, Bello Kumo (APC \u2013 Gombe) as Chief Whip, and Adewunmi Onanuga (APC \u2013 Ogun) as Deputy Chief Whip).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
