Soludo sets up tribunal to investigate UTME falsification<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Anambra State government on Monday through the
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has issued a statement that the State government has instituted a panel of inquiry to probe the controversy surrounding the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, Anambra State, by name Ejikeme Mmesoma, who reportedly inflated her result and announced herself as the top scorer for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Ngozi pointed out \u201cA panel of inquiry has been set up to work with security agents to investigate the allegation of falsification of result levelled against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who had earlier been showcased in the social media as having scored the highest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remarkably, Mmesoma granted interview in a video circulating on social media that she printed out her result on jamb portal and did not know how to inflate anything. She pointed out that further investigation into the mystery of the result has revealed that there seems to be a mix up, where bar code assigned to her result was interpreted to belong to another candidate whose score was also different. JAMB needs to clarify on how the data security of their site was compromised and to affirm the integrity of their results displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ejikeme Mmesoma <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In her words, the commissioner described the controversy on the girl\u2019s result as embarrassing, \u201cespecially coming at a time Governor Chukwuma Soludo is repositioning the education sector in Anambra State.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She quickly congratulated Nkechinyere Umeh, who was declared by JAMB as the highest scorer nationwide with a cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 UTM<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in a statement on Sunday Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesperson, revealed that the student actually scored 249 in the exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin said her result would be withdrawn while the pupil would face prosecution. This is to be if she was complicit in the alleged manipulation of results otherwise JAMB should investigate their data integrity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
